Fulfilling the KU Core
Note: In Fall 2024, a new general education curriculum, KU Core 34, was implemented replacing the original KU Core curriculum, adopted in 2013. Students starting KU in Fall 2024 or after must complete the goals outlined in the KU Core 34 general education program.
KU Core Goals
Goal 1 requires that you complete one course or educational experience for Learning Outcome 1 and one course for Learning Outcome 2.
We recommend you complete this goal in your first 30 credit hours of your academic career.
Goal 2 requires that you complete two courses for Learning Outcome 1 and one course for Learning Outcome 2.
We recommend you complete this goal in your first 30 credit hours of your academic career.
Goal 3 requires you complete three courses or educational experiences: one in Arts and Humanities, one in Natural Sciences, and one in Social Sciences for the Learning Outcome. You may also complete the learning outcome by a combined course sequence.
We recommend you complete this goal during the 30-60 credit hour period of your academic career.
Goal 4 requires that you complete one course, educational experience, or sequence for Learning Outcome 1 and one course, educational experience, course sequence, or a significant study abroad experience for Learning Outcome 2.
We recommend you complete this goal during the 60-90 credit hour period of your academic career.
Goal 5 requires one course, educational experience, or sequence for Learning Outcome 1 or Learning Outcome 2. It's your choice to determine which learning outcome better suits your educational experience!

Goal 6 requires one course, educational experience, or sequence for Learning Outcome 1 or Learning Outcome 2.
We recommend you complete this goal once you have reached 90 or more credit hours.
