Corequisite Developmental Support

Beginning in Fall 2026, Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) is requiring public two- and four-year institutions to implement corequisite support classes for English 101 and math pathways courses. KU will pilot corequisite courses in Fall 2025 with a group of students.

Corequisite courses provide students additional assistance with the English 101 and/or math pathways course content while also allowing students to build their academic skills (e.g. study, writing, time and stress management). Corequisite courses allow students to enroll directly into their math pathway course without completing a pre-requisite course.

Multiple measures (e.g., ACT scores, high school GPA, high school course grades, placement tests) will determine if students need the assistance the corequisite support course provides.

More details will be shared when they become available.
