Transfer Students
Whether they completed courses in high school or attended college before enrolling at KU, many students transfer college credit. Some or all of this credit may meet KU Core 34 requirements. Academic advisors will assist students in determining how to apply transfer credit during the orientation process.
Note: Transfer students starting at the university in Fall 2024 through Summer 2025 may request to opt-out of the KU Core 34 requirements.

CredTran, KU’s portal for reviewing transfer credit, is currently being updated to include KU Core 34 requirements.
Previous Degree
Students who have earned an Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Fine Arts (AFA), or an Associate in Science (AS) from a public two- or four-year Kansas institution will have completed their KU Core 34 requirements.
Students who have earned an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Metropolitan Community College, Kansas City, Missouri will have completed their KU Core 34 requirements.
Students who have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited U.S. institution will have completed their KU Core 34 requirements. The U.S. Department of Education provides a list of approved regional accrediting agencies.
