Math Pathways by Major

Math Pathway Courses & Alternates

Rather than requiring all students to take the same math course, Math Pathways are designed to help students enroll in the math class that best supports their chosen major. The Kansas Board of Regents has identified a designated a Math Pathways course for each degree program.

Some majors also allow alternate math courses that may fulfill the pathway requirement. The table below lists the designated Math Pathway course for each major, along with any approved alternates selected by individual degree programs. When applicable, your academic advisor will discuss these alternate options with you.

The Academic Catalog is the official record of Math Pathways courses and accepted alternates. 

STEM Majors Requiring Calculus I (MATH 115 or MATH 125)

If a degree program starts with Calculus I (MATH 115 or MATH 125), students who qualify can begin college by taking Calculus I right away. Students in these degree programs can also start with College Algebra (MATH 101), but this may increase the time needed to complete the degree.
